After seven years Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has returned to the WWE. Not to wrestle and not to commentate. Nothing regular. The Rock has come back to guest host Wrestlemania 27 in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Growing up, The Rock — alongside Stone Cold Steve Austin — was my favorite wrestler. He’s my ‘most favorite’ wrestler of all-time. I’m not much into wrestling these days. I’d much rather turn on a great football or basketball game, but I do regularly catch the shows.

After six years, from 2004 to 2010, I barely watched it at all. Then I started regularly watching in July 2010.

The Rock has been absent since 2004, and after seven years he’s back to host Wrestlemania 27, and it’s awesome. Simply put.

The jabroni beatin’, pie eatin’, trail blazin’, eyebrow raisin’, step off the brake, put your foot on the gas, always ready to whoop some ass, the great one, the people’s champ, THE ROCK!

  1. The People’s Champion is back home. Though, I think Russo (is Russo still head of the creative team?) and McMahon dropped the ball on this one. Though, my idea would piss fans off like no other.

Picture this, WrestleMania music cues, the lights go out, then from the Titantron (they still call it that – right?) you hear ‘If you smeeeeeeelllllllllah….what the ROCK is cookin…’ and the crowd EXPLODES.

Being as the last time he appeared it was as a heel (though, I could be wrong on that too…it’s been a LONG time), keep him playing that role of playing with the fans.

Rock gets on the mic and says, in true Rock fashion ‘FINALLY….The. Rock. Has. Come. Back. To. Wrestle…..Mania! But, oh no no, not to entertain you candy ass jabronis.

Or something to that effect.

❤ the Rock though. Always have, always will. Was pissed when Lesnar beat him to win the title years and years ago. Though, I did enjoy Lesnar for a bit afterward.

    1. Thanks for the comment, TJ.

I believe Russo is heading the development in TNA, although I’m not sure that’s so great considering how they are planning on doing some big angle involving Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle involving Jarrett’s wife, Kurt’s former wife. Hell, I don’t know.

Rock came back as a face for a brief couple of weeks in March 2004 to team with Mick Foley at Wrestlemania 20 (the one where Chris Benoit FINALLY won the World Heavyweight title) to take on Randy Orton and Batista.

That would be awesome, though. I will really mark out at Wrestlemania if he delivers a Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow to John Cena. Although I have a feeling that will happen to the Miz instead of Cena, unfortunately.

Man, I’ll never forget Summerslam 2002 when Lesnar CLEANLY beat The Rock and the damn crowd turned on Rock in the middle of the match.

      1. Ah, I just remember his black leather vest clad self with his guitar lol.

TNA is doomed to fail. They can’t compete on a marketing or talent standpoint with the WWE, McMahon has a complete monopoly on the wrestling industry. The wrestlers in TNA use it as a jumping point to the WWE, and washed up guys (sad when Angle’s washed up, 😦 ) used it as a rest home sort of deal.

That SummerSlam was brutal. Rock had him set up for the People’s Elbow and then he turns around and gets hit with the F-5 lmao.

I still remember the Miz from the Real World/Road Rules challenged. Rocked his fauxhawk for awhile to be honest lmao.

Randy Orton and Batista, ah, the Evolution days. Hell of a faction. Can’t go wrong when you get Triple H and Ric Flair combined with something. Great, great, great heel stable.

I legitimately miss watching it lol. Might have to tune in sometime soon. Maybe Mania.
