— Lovie Smith, head coach of the Chicago Bears since the 2004 season, was the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams from 2001-2003.
— Orlando Pace signed with the Bears prior to the 2009 season. He was the starting left tackle for the Super Bowl XXXIV champion St. Louis Rams.
— Mike Martz is the new offensive coordinator for the Bears. He was the offensive coordinator for the said ’99 Rams team.
Torry “Big Game” Holt may be the fourth piece to the puzzle the Bears are seemlessly piecing together. Holt played ten seasons with the Rams (’99-’08) and had the best seasons of his career under coach Mike Martz.
Although Holt is aging, and knee troubles have tainted the “Big Game” image he propagated during his time in St. Louis, his veteran leadership and tactical route running could add some much needed leverage to a Bears offense that has been ailing in the past few years.
