“Lick..an offensive term?/Best & Worst Sportswriters right now

A short post today. A fellow writer over on RealGM got blasted by a lady calling the assistant manager about the magazine concerning a headline that’s topic was about the Giants/A’s game. The picture had Barry Bonds sticking his tongue out, and the headline stated, “Giants lick A’s”.

In over the years of writing complaints, I’ve never heard of something so ridiculous of a lady calling “lick” an offensive term. I guess the whole world is coming to an end now thanks to moronic complaints. Look, people, “lick” is not an offensive term. She apparently canceled her subscription because it was too disgusting. Christ almighty, people.

I draw the line at “Trojans pound Beavers”.

Best sportswriters at this very moment
1.) Dwight Perry
2.) Mark Whicker
3.) Gary Peterson (he’s been writing for a while. He deserves a spot.)
4.) Michael Wilbon
5.) Troy Johnson (of the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in Georgia. He’s far too talented for that newspaper.)
6.) Bill Plaschke
7.) Sally Jenkins
8.) Ray Rotto
9.) Paul Sheridan
10.) Bob Ryan

Worst sportswriters at this very moment (I can only think of 5)
1.) Scoop Jackson
2.) Jay Mariotti
3.) Jason Whitlock (he’s only got the Imus gig right..)
4.) Roger Brown
5.) Terrence Moore

    WORST

    Sally Jenkins

She is a paid biographer and doper apologiust for Lance Phamrstrong.
She is biased re: pat Summit based upon material non-disclosures.
She got Bode Miller & The Winter doping Olympics 100% wrong and now the Austrian are fined $1 MILLION for blood doping at Turino

Jenkins abandoned Armstrong’s doper alum Roid Floyd Landis this week—only after defending him for nine tedious months.

Jenkins is pure fiction writing at its worst.

TRUE,TRUE,TRUE,TRUE,ANDTRUE! I wonder what was on her mind.

Payment from Lance and his corporate benefactors.

btw: Where is Lance on this Bjarne Riis, Eric Zabel, Brian Holms, Rolf Aldag, Jef D’Hont, Jan Ulrich, Ivan Basso and Roid Landis doping crimes?

Maybe another Larry King Live script can save this Nike sneaker salesman?

  • Another underrated writer is Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News. He is the #1 NFL Draft guy overall in his player evaluations. Why he hasn’t taken Mel Kiper’s place is beyond me.

    Good article, by the way.

All ESPN doper apologists and cover artists who work for George Mitchell (Disney Holdings)

    ESPN is an utter disgrace.

  • An overrated sports writter, the worst of them all, Tony Kourheisar! That guy knows less than the average guy at te bar, and he’s supposed to be the “expert”?!?! He’s gotta be the worst out there.

  • I don’t know. I never go online and read Tony’s stuff. In fact, I can hardly ever find it. I don’t like him on MNF because of the way he acted — the nervous antics — and the fact that he changed his opinion throughout the games sometimes (reminded me of the way Bill Walton does.) However, I’m a fan of the show Pardon the Interruption and usually watch it daily. It’s funny, and their opinions usually make sense even if it’s about something that they never watch (horse racing, a prime example.) I find Wilbon to be a good writer. But I’m not sure about Kornheiser.

  • Paul Domowitch over at Philly.com has become one of my favorite football writers. Check him out if you can.

  • Plaschke as one of the best?!? You’re clueless. Plaschke and his former buddy Tim Kawakami are two of the most melodramatic, least intelligent sports writers in the business.
